Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their otherwise underwhelming season on a high, securing an 11-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) and preventing them from earning a direct entry into the final of the WPL 2025. The win also ensured that table-toppers Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a direct spot in the final, which will take place on March 15.

While RCB’s victory may not change their season’s trajectory, it allowed Delhi to book their place in the summit clash for the third consecutive year. The Capitals, however, will be hoping that this time they can clinch the coveted WPL title that has so far eluded them.

RCB set a formidable total of 199/3, thanks to strong performances from their top order. Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front, scoring 53 off 37 balls. Ellyse Perry also contributed with a crucial 49 off 38, while Richa Ghosh (36 off 22) and Georgia Wareham (31 off 10) provided the finishing touches to their innings.

In response, MI’s chase fell short as they were restricted to 188/9. Though Sajeevan Sajana’s quick-fire 23 off 12 balls raised MI’s hopes briefly, they were ultimately unable to chase down the target.

Both MI and DC ended the league stage with five wins each, but DC had the edge with a superior net run rate, allowing them to secure the top spot. MI will now face Gujarat Giants in the eliminator on March 13, with the winner advancing to the final.
