KOCHI: Football fans in Thrissur and Kannur have reason to celebrate — Super League Kerala (SLK) is bringing the action home with two newly designated home stadiums for the upcoming season, set to kick off by the end of September.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, the league will now feature six teams playing across six venues. Previously, only four stadiums—in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, and Thiruvananthapuram—hosted matches. Teams like Thrissur Magic FC and Kannur Warriors FC were forced to share grounds in neighbouring districts, limiting local fan participation.

This season, Kannur Warriors FC will play at the Corporation Stadium in Kannur, while Thrissur Magic FC will take the field at the IM Vijayan Stadium in Thrissur.

“Each team having a dedicated home stadium is essential to building a strong connection with their local fan base,” said Mathew Joseph, Director and CEO of SLK. “In the previous season, fans had to travel long distances to support their teams, which was far from ideal. This move solves that.”

SLK has also committed to upgrading the new venues with improved lighting and pitch quality ahead of the season. Additionally, plans are in motion to shift the base of Forca Kochi FC’s home ground, further enhancing the infrastructure footprint of the league.
