Women hockey players of Odisha backs cash prize

Bhubaneshwar: Four of the women hockey players from Odisha, who represented the Indian contingent in the Asian Games 2018, winning the silver medal, will be awarded a cash prize worth Rs. 1 crore each, by the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The awardees are Sunita Lakra, Namita Toppo, Deep Grace Ekka, and Nilima Minz. The coach will be awarded the 20 percent of the amount, that of the players awarded in the Asian Games 2018, according to the revised sports policy. The CM has congratulated the team.

As Odisha is the sponsor for the national hockey team, it will also be hosting the World Men’s Hockey Cup 2018, in the month of November and December.
