After the massive success of Gadar 2 and Jaat, Sunny Deol is gearing up for two highly anticipated films: Lahore 1947 and Ramayana. In a candid interview, Sunny shared insights into both projects and what makes them special.

Aamir Khan Backing Lahore 1947

Sunny revealed that Lahore 1947 had been in the works for years with director Rajkumar Santoshi. “This story has been close to Raj and me for a long time,” Sunny said. “We had tried making it multiple times but it never materialised. After Gadar 2, things changed. Aamir came to me and expressed his interest in producing it, and I was thrilled.”

He highlighted the powerful collaboration between himself and Santoshi, having previously delivered intense and memorable films. Sunny confirmed that Lahore 1947 is adapted from a play and the team aims for a release soon. They were also waiting for Aamir Khan’s prior project to be completed before moving forward.

Taking on the Role of Hanuman in Ramayana

Sunny also spoke about stepping into the divine shoes of Hanuman in the upcoming Ramayana film. “Yes, I’m playing Hanuman and it’s exciting,” he confirmed. “I’ll be shooting very soon. Honestly, I’m nervous, and that’s a good thing—it keeps you on your toes.”

Calling the project grand in scale, he praised the production team’s vision, saying they aim to match Hollywood-level visual effects and storytelling. “Ramayana has been made many times, but this version, with the kind of commitment and energy from all the actors, will hopefully do justice to the epic,” he added.

Working with Ranbir Kapoor

Sunny also spoke about collaborating with Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana, describing him as “a fine actor” who fully dedicates himself to every role. “It’ll be great working with him,” Sunny said.

Both Lahore 1947 and Ramayana mark a bold new chapter in Sunny Deol’s career, blending legacy roles with ambitious storytelling.
