Looking to bring a little holiday magic to your Mac? Check out Festivitas, a pay-what-you-want app that adds virtual Christmas lights to your Menu Bar and Dock, offering a subtle festive seasonal touch.
The app lets you decorate your screen with twinkling lights, but don’t worry about interference with your icons or menus. The lights are non-interactive, ensuring they won’t disrupt your ability to click on anything beneath them.
Festivitas offers plenty of customization options, which can be accessed through a Menu Bar icon. You can adjust the opacity, cable color, thickness, and even tweak the size and spacing of the lights. Additionally, you can modify the flickering pattern and speed. There’s also an option to change the light color or keep them white.
The app allows separate settings for both the Menu Bar and Dock lights. This means you can have unique designs for each or remove one entirely. Personally, the Dock lights seem less obtrusive, as I tend to keep windows at the top of the screen where the Menu Bar lights hang.
Festivitas is a “pay what you want” app, with a minimum contribution of €4 ($4.23). It works on macOS 14.6 or later, so be sure to check the accessibility permissions during installation.
And remember, don’t leave the lights on all night!
