The Railways Ministry has been actively engaging with its audience on social media, showcasing captivating images of railway stations across India and providing updates on railway developments. In a recent move, the ministry has embraced the trend of using memes and viral phrases to promote rail safety. A meme post shared on Wednesday humorously encourages passengers not to sit at the train door, employing the phrase ”Baithne ka tarika thoda casual hai” .

Accompanying the post, the Railways emphasized the need to be a #ResponsibleRailYatri and avoid sitting at the train door for safety reasons. The meme features an image of two passengers sitting at the train door with the caption, ”Train me Baithne Ka Tarika Bada Kazual hai.” This phrase gained popularity last year when IAS interviewer Vijender Chauhan used it during a consulting session, creating a viral meme sensation.

While some social media users found amusement in the post, others took the opportunity to voice concerns and suggestions. One user urged the Railways to enhance passenger services by introducing more trains and seats, ensuring punctuality, and improving seat management. Another suggested implementing a safety feature where train doors automatically lock at a certain speed.

Addressing a more empathetic perspective, a third user proposed deploying undercover officers in unreserved and non-AC compartments to understand the challenges faced by passengers and explore potential solutions.

This isn’t the first instance of the Railways joining a viral trend. In November of the previous year, the Ministry of Railways shared images of the Vande Bharat Express from Kerala, using the viral dialogue “So beautiful, so elegant” to describe the trains. The Railways featured pictures of both blue and tangerine-colored Vande Bharat Express trains crossing Vellayil Station in the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod section of Kerala, accompanying the post with the ”Just Looking Like A Wow” meme to compliment the trains.
