The Karnataka teacher, Pushpalatha R, whose images with a Class 10 student stirred controversy on social media, has been suspended from her role as the head teacher at Murugamalla Village Government High School. The alleged “photoshoot” occurred in Chikkaballapur during a study tour and depicted the teacher engaging in intimate gestures, including hugging, kissing, and lifting the student.
The photos gained widespread attention when shared on various social media platforms, prompting condemnation from users who expressed concern about the direction of society. Amit Singh Rajawat, an X user, voiced his dismay in a post, questioning the appropriateness of a romantic photoshoot between a government school teacher and a Class 10 student.
The parents of the Class 10 boy, aggrieved by the images, complained to the Block Education Officer (BEO), urging a thorough investigation into the teacher’s conduct. Social media users also expressed their outrage, with some suggesting that both the student and the teacher should face consequences for their actions.
In response to the complaint, BEO V Umadevi conducted an inquiry at the school, leading to the suspension of the head teacher by the Deputy Director of Chikkaballapur District Education Department, as per the BEO’s report.
Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) Bailanjinappa issued the suspension order, citing the need for a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Pushpalatha R was questioned by school authorities, where she claimed that the photos captured a “mother-son relationship” between her and the student.
Both the teacher and the student assert that the photos were intended to be private and were leaked without their consent, fueling the parents’ outrage. The incident has sparked a broader conversation about boundaries and appropriateness within the student-teacher dynamic, prompting calls for a more vigilant approach to such situations in educational institutions.
