Udupi: MLA Yashpal Suvarna has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, requesting the sanctioning of a flyover at NH 169 (A) to ease heavy traffic congestion in Udupi city. In his letter, Suvarna highlighted the growing traffic issues caused by an increasing number of visitors to the city, which has become a hub for commuters, tourists, and pilgrims.
Key junctions such as Kalsanka, Kadiyali, and the city bus stand are particularly affected, with traffic bottlenecks hindering smooth movement. Suvarna pointed out that Udupi’s popular attractions, including the Udupi Shri Krishna Temple, Manipal Education Hub, Malpe Beach, and other tourist sites, have led to an overwhelming strain on the city’s infrastructure.
The MLA requested the minister’s support in constructing an elevated flyover from the City Bus Stand to Indrali to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow in the area.
