
Udupi Prepares for 107-Km Human Chain on International Democracy Day
Deputy Commissioner Dr. K. Vidya Kumari announced that over one lakh participants are expected in the human chain event organized on September 15 in Udupi district, as part of International Democracy Day celebrations across Karnataka.
The event will feature a 107-km human chain along National Highway-66, from the Shiruru toll gate in the north to the Hejamadi toll gate in the south, to promote constitutional values and democracy. Participants will include officials, educators, students, self-help groups, and various organizations.
The event will commence at 9:30 am with the reading of the Constitution’s preamble, followed by the formation of the human chain from 10:00 to 10:15 am. Drone photography, folk art performances, and a large banner display in Kinnimulki are among the highlights. Safety measures, including 12 ambulances and water facilities every kilometer, are planned for the event.
