Brahmavar taluk’s national highway is a perilous route with multiple high-risk zones, where poor infrastructure and unsafe designs claim lives regularly. Residents and commuters are plagued by fatal accidents due to the lack of flyovers, service roads, and pedestrian crossings.
The Brahmavar bus stop is a danger zone where traffic converges from all directions. Despite public pleas for a flyover during road construction, none were built, leaving pedestrians vulnerable. Similarly, the intersection near Mahesh Hospital lacks a service road, forcing commuters to take risky detours or drive against traffic. This area, near SMS College and other facilities, sees constant accidents, with locals demanding immediate infrastructure improvements.
Another hotspot is Dharmavaram Auditorium, where the absence of a service road from Uppinakote to Brahmavara leads to frequent shortcuts and collisions. Meanwhile, the Akashvani Circle remains treacherous as vehicles merge onto the highway from Barkur and Car Street at high speeds.
The misplaced cattle pass in Brahmavar, which serves minimal purpose, adds to the chaos. Narrow and poorly visible, it endangers pedestrians near the mini Vidhana Soudha.
Drivers and locals are vocal about their frustrations. Auto drivers recount daily accidents and call for service roads and better planning. School bus drivers highlight the dangers children face during peak traffic hours.
Residents urge authorities, including MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, to act promptly, ensuring proper infrastructure to save lives. Delays in addressing these issues are costing the community dearly.
