Udupi: In a prompt and coordinated response, Hiriyadka police apprehended two men involved in cattle theft at Pareeka in Athrady village on July 30, and seized a pickup truck along with the animals.

Acting on reliable intelligence received by PSI (investigation) Vittal Malavadkar, a police team rushed to Shivagundi around 12 noon, where they found cattle being cruelly loaded into a vehicle allegedly bound for a slaughterhouse.

The accused have been identified as:

  • Mehboob Saheb (65), resident of Moodubettu, Kaup taluk

  • Padmanabha (57), from Kukke Subrahmanya, Sullia taluk, Dakshina Kannada

  • Police seized a pickup truck (KA 07 5094) worth approximately Rs 6 lakh, along with one cow and one calf, estimated at Rs 6,000.

    A case has been formally registered at Hiriyadka Police Station.

    The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of Udupi SP Hariram Shankar and ASP Sudhakar, with the on-ground team led by DySP Prabhu D T, Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, PSI Puneeth Kumar B E, and PSI Vittal Malavadkar, along with Hiriyadka station staff.
