Udupi: In a unanimous decision, Charles Ambler was elected as the new president of the Jilla Alpa Sankyathara Vedike (R), Udupi district, during a general body meeting held on Tuesday, June 24, at the Hotel Manipal Inn auditorium.
Joining him in leadership are Shanthi Periera as vice president, T M Jafrulla as secretary, and Roshani Olivera as joint secretary. M S Khan will serve as the treasurer, while Ismail Hussain Katapady, the outgoing president, was chosen as the past president of the forum.
Additionally, a panel of consultants has been appointed to support the forum’s initiatives. These include Fr Charles Menezes, Alphonse D’Costa, Baikady Hussain, Walter Cyril Pinto, Valerian Fernandes, Salavuddin, and Mary D’Souza Udyavar.
Renowned educationist and former president Dr Gerald Pinto conducted the election proceedings. He was also appointed as the editor of ‘Sampark’ magazine, the official publication of the forum, aimed at fostering communication and awareness among minority communities.
The newly formed committee has expressed its commitment to working towards the welfare, representation, and empowerment of minority groups in Udupi district through constructive dialogue, social outreach, and policy advocacy.
