On September 23, Udupi Town Police detained eight labourers from Chhattisgarh after they allegedly engaged in a fight that disrupted public peace near the AGP Labor Colony, adjacent to the Swarna River Bridge in Nayampalli, Puttur village.
The detained individuals—Mukram, Subhash Kumar, Ashim, Vikas, Sant Lal, Vishal, Magesh, and Akhilesh—had come to Udupi to work on a pipeline project and were residing in a temporary shed near the labour colony.
Reports indicate that the altercation stemmed from a minor issue but quickly escalated, disturbing local residents and creating a tense atmosphere. The Udupi Town Police acted swiftly to address the situation, filing a case against the eight labourers for their role in disrupting public peace.
Fortunately, while some labourers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation, authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were reported. The police are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure community safety.
