Udupi: A search operation has been underway for two days to locate Vasudha (46), a woman from Bengaluru, who was swept away by strong currents in the Sourpanika river near the Kollur Mookambika temple. Despite intensive efforts, no clue has been found so far.

According to preliminary reports, Vasudha frequently visited the temple and had arrived on August 27. While near the river, she is believed to have accidentally slipped and been carried away by the rapids.

Expert teams deployed

A diving team led by Ishwara Malpe, along with fire brigade personnel, has been engaged in the search. However, officials stated that the strong flow of water has posed major challenges, slowing progress.

CCTV footage has reportedly captured the woman running near the river shortly before the incident. Kollur police are monitoring the situation and continuing their investigation.

Family and authorities on alert

Relatives of the missing woman have reached Kollur, anxiously awaiting developments. Authorities have urged devotees and tourists to stay cautious near riverbanks, especially during monsoon-fed high currents.
