Udupi: Karkala MLA and former minister Sunil Kumar has accused fake Congress leaders, particularly Muniyalu Udayakumar Shetty, of deliberately obstructing developmental projects in Karkala, including the Parashurama Theme Park at Ummikal Hill in Bailur.
Addressing a protest rally in front of the Udupi District Collector’s office—following a massive vehicle procession from Karkala—Sunil Kumar alleged that false narratives spread by Shetty and his group have hindered the progress of the Parashurama statue’s reconstruction.
He pointed out that sculptor Krishna Naik had submitted a formal request to modify the statue’s design on September 29, 2023, and that permission was granted by the DC’s office on October 4, 2023. Work on the redesign had begun accordingly. However, Sunil Kumar claimed that the Congress camp continued misinformation campaigns, despite police charge sheets clarifying that the statue was not made of fiber—thus ending the “parade of lies” and paving the way for what he called “BJP’s triumph of truth.”
Asserting that he had brought several development initiatives to Karkala during his tenure, Sunil Kumar accused the Congress party of sabotaging them for political gain. “While BJP talks about development, Congress plots to halt it,” he said.
He warned that if the Congress continues to block progress, BJP workers would take to the streets in protest. “We will show these fake Congressmen the true strength of BJP,” he declared.
