Kaup:  Relentless rain since July 15 has severely impacted Udupi district, with widespread flooding and waterlogging disrupting normal life. In Padubidri’s Padebettu area of Kaup taluk, rising water levels submerged several houses, triggering emergency response efforts.

Led by Kaup tahsildar Pratibha R, officials evacuated 24 residents from five homes, relocating them to safer shelters as a precaution.

Flooding has affected several taluks, including Udupi, Brahmavar, Byndoor, Kundapur, Hebri, Karkala, and Kaup, causing transport delays and power interruptions in some areas.

The situation has worsened due to the overflowing Kamini river, endangering low-lying localities.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been actively involved in rescue and relief efforts, working to limit damage and ensure the safety of affected residents.

Authorities have urged those residing near rivers and vulnerable zones to stay alert. Fishermen have been strictly warned against venturing into the sea until further updates.
