Udupi: A total of 97,706 cases involving unlinked voter details and logical discrepancies or anomalies have been identified during electoral roll verification in Udupi district, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K said.
Over 31,000 voter details remain unlinked
Addressing a press conference at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Manipal on August 24, Swaroopa said 31,903 cases were identified where voter details could not be linked with the previous electoral roll.
Another 65,803 cases involving logical discrepancies or other anomalies were detected during verification after the linkage process.
The cases have been identified across the district’s five Assembly constituencies.
Udupi constituency records highest cases
The constituency-wise figures show that Udupi recorded the highest number of cases at 36,754, comprising 13,255 unlinked cases and 23,499 discrepancy or anomaly cases.
Kaup recorded 20,821 cases, including 5,971 unlinked and 14,850 discrepancy cases.
Byndoor recorded 15,166 cases, while Karkala had 13,787. Kundapura recorded 11,178 cases.
Voters will get opportunity to submit documents
The concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will issue notices to voters in such cases as per the rules. Where necessary, EROs may also issue notices suo motu.
Voters will be given an opportunity to establish their claims and submit the required documents.
To make the hearing process easier, additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been appointed.
The district administration has also decided to conduct hearings related to the notices within the respective gram panchayat areas or urban wards, allowing voters to participate closer to their residences and submit the necessary documents.
