Udupi: Under the spiritual guidance of Udupi Paryaya Peethadhipati Shri Shri Sugunendra Tirtha Sripada and Junior Pontiff Shri Shri Sushreendra Tirtha Sripada, a vibrant summer camp was recently hosted at Sri Krishna Vrundavana, near Raleigh, NC. Now in its second edition, the four-week camp welcomed over 60 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) children aged between 4 and 14, offering them a rich experience rooted in Indian culture and traditions.
Held during the summer break, the program served as a lively platform for children to reconnect with their heritage through a range of interactive activities, including spiritual learning, cultural storytelling, and traditional games. This immersive journey emphasized values and rituals central to Indian ethos.
The curriculum included yoga sessions, chanting of devotional mantras, idol worship, and tales from Indian mythology. Volunteers played a crucial role as mentors, creating an enthusiastic environment where children showed great interest in learning and performing age-old customs.
Spearheaded by Chief Priest Nagendra Udupa, with support from Priest Prasanna Melanta, the camp concluded with a meaningful ceremony in which children offered their learnings to Lord Krishna. Udupa acknowledged the dedication of volunteers and praised the enthusiastic participation of the young attendees, presenting them with tokens of appreciation.
Following the acclaim received in its inaugural year, this year’s camp once again succeeded in instilling cultural awareness and pride among the diaspora youth—an effort strongly aligned with the Udupi Peeth’s vision of preserving India’s spiritual heritage abroad.
