Udupi: In a major philanthropic initiative, 20,000 students from 200 aided schools across Udupi district will receive free school uniforms on August 2. The uniform distribution and the Heggunje Rajeeva Shetty Vidyaposhak Award ceremony will be held at 10:30 am at the IYC auditorium of Yakshagana Kalaranga, Udupi.

The event is being organized by the Heggunje Rajeeva Shetty Charitable Trust, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Udupi District Aided Schools Association.

Nagaraj Shetty, vice president of the Trust, announced the details at a press meet. MP Kota Srinivas Poojary will inaugurate the function, while MLA Yashpal Suvarna will preside. The Trust President, Dr. H. S. Shetty, will deliver the introductory remarks.

The function will also feature Prof. Ashok S, Vice-Chancellor of Kodagu University, as chief guest. As part of the celebrations, noted writer Indira Halambi will be honored with the Heggunje Rajeeva Shetty Vidyaposhak Award for her contributions to education and literature.

The event reflects the Trust’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and empowering underprivileged students in rural and semi-urban areas.
