The Lokayukta Court in Karwar has sentenced Usha Hegde, former BJP district general secretary and Rural BJP unit president, to one year in prison and fined her Rs 5,000 in a corruption case. Usha Hegde was found guilty of misusing her position as both an Anganwadi worker and zilla panchayat member to illegally receive an honorarium of Rs 88,630 from the government between 2011 and 2012.
She was accused of creating fake attendance records and holding two government posts simultaneously, a violation of departmental rules.
