NEW DELHI: A pressure IED planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh on Sunday, injuring at least five security personnel. The incident took place in the Tarrem police station area of Bijapur while a team was conducting a demining exercise from the Chinngelur CRPF camp.
According to police officials, the explosion occurred when the security personnel discovered a wire connected to the pressure IED during their search for explosives. The blast resulted in splinter injuries to the five personnel involved.
After receiving preliminary treatment, the injured jawans were transferred to Bijapur district hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable and out of danger.
This incident follows a tragic event in July when two security personnel lost their lives, and four others were injured in a similar IED blast during an anti-Maoist operation in the insurgency-affected Bastar region.
