MP varsity trains kids in womb

Bhopal: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University in Madhya Pradesh is doing the impossible — it claims to train a child in its mother’s womb, much on the lines of an episode in mythological epic Mahabharata where an unborn Abhimanyu learned from his father Arjun.

MPThe Bhopal-based University claims to have taught at least 25 expecting mothers ‘Garbh Samvad’ — an act of communicating with the child in womb — at its ‘Garbh Sanskar Tapowan Kendra’, opened last year.

The course helps to determine what a child will grow up to be, say the instructors at the centre.

Expecting mothers have to register at the centre run by the university and she is then imparted free training from 12 to 3 pm every day.

“During the training, an expecting mother is made to do Yoga, made to listen to music and do ‘Garbh Samvad’, which is interaction with the child in the womb. The mother is asked to put her hands on her stomach and concentrate on the child and try to talk to the child,” said Babita Solanki, an instructor at the centre.

“Besides this, the mother is also asked to solve mathematical problems at least twice a week. It makes the baby’s mind sharp,” claimed Solanki.

“And the expecting parents are encouraged to think more about those things which they expect or wish their child to be, like if any parent wants their child to be a computer professional in future we want them to think about computers and try to talk about computers when they are interacting with the babies in womb during ‘Garbh Samvad,” she added.

When asked, whether this procedure actually helps, Solanki says, “Till now, four women who have attended the programme have delivered babies. All those kids are showing signs of being different from normal ones. They are more active”.

“There is nothing new and it is mainly in our traditions but are not being followed,” said Dr Rekha Rai, in charge of the kendra.

“And it is nowhere related to a particular religion as women from various religions have participated in the programme,” she claimed.

The centre was started by the university last year in October and since then, 25 women have enrolled for it.

Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Mohanlal Chhipa says, “We have signed an MoU with Gandhi Bal Vishwavidyalaya, Gujarat and have designed the entire curriculum for the training with their help”.

“We are also keeping track and recording the developments in the children of those women who have participated in the ‘Sanskar’ so that its affects can be scientifically established,” he added.
