Islamabad: At least six people were killed and more than 10 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a car in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, police said.
The accident took place on Shakargarh road in the Narowal district of the province when the bus driver lost control over the vehicle while overtaking and hit the car, District Police Officer Narowal Rizwan Omer Gondal told Xinhua news agency.
All the deceased were passengers of the car while 10 people aboard the bus were injured, the official said, adding that the accident occurred due to the over-speeding and slippery road owing to a recent heavy downpour in the District, Xinhua news agency reported.
Following the incident, rescue teams and police reached the spot and shifted the injured people to a nearby hospital. Several among them are said to be in critical condition.
Road accidents are quite frequent in Pakistan mainly due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and unprofessional driving.
