An atmosphere of panic enveloped a Toronto-bound Air Canada flight when authorities at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi were alerted to an email alleging a bomb threat onboard, officials reported on Wednesday.
Fortunately, the alarming threat was swiftly determined to be a false alarm.
According to officials, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office received the concerning email at 10:50 pm on Tuesday, claiming the presence of a bomb on the Delhi-Toronto Air Canada flight. “In adherence to established security procedures, a comprehensive inspection was promptly carried out, yielding no evidence of any suspicious items,” stated a senior police officer.
Legal measures are underway to address the incident, he confirmed.
