Webinar on ‘Overseas Employment for Indian Nurses in Italy’ held on Oct 9

Italy: V-Empire Overseas Consultancy in collaboration with RV College of Nursing, Bengaluru held a webinar on ‘Overseas Employment for Indian Nurses in Italy’ on October 9 at 7.00 pm IST. Chief Guests for the event was Dr. Ashwanth Narayan C. N., Minister of Higher Education, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka and T. Ajungla Jamir, Consul General, Consulate of General of India Milano, Italy.

The webinar was organised by Dr. Gajendra Singh, Principal, RV College of Nursing, Bengaluru, and Hemegowda, CEO, V-Empire Overseas Consultancy, Torino, Italy. Guest of honour were Dr. Jayakar S. M, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, Dr. Beloor Raghavendra Shetty, Chairman of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Coorporation Limited, Government of Karnataka, Dr. T. Dileep Kumar, President of Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, and Dr. Y. S. R. Murthy, Chancellor of RV University, Bengaluru.

Dr. Roy. K. George, President of Trained Nurses’ Association of India, Delhi, and Dr. ATS Giri, Karnataka Branch President of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India, Bengaluru were the special guests for the webinar.

The event started with a prayer. Dr. Sideshwar Angadi, Associate Professor, Medical Surgical Department welcomed the gathering. Hemegowda, CEO, V-Empire Overseas Consultancy, Torino, Italy delivered the inaugural address.

In his inaugural address he briefed about his nursing career and consultancy and that he would want to reciprocate the knowledge he has gained back to the people in India.

T. Ajungla Jamir said that becoming a nurse is one of the most selfless acts in this world. The kind of dedication and kindness with which nurses take care of patients all over the world is something that we should not take for granted. It should be appreciated by all. She thanked the organisers for holding the event and she hopes that this initiative will bring brilliant opportunity for Indian nurses coming to Italy. Jamir then launched the project ‘Indian Nurses to Italy.’

Dr. Ashwanth Narayan in his speech said, “As a career, nurses in India look up to developed countries to work where they have more opportunity in terms of economy as well as for better learning. In Europe there are many languages. We are trying to provide the required training for the learning of languages for all these nurses. We have been encouraging nurses who are looking for better opportunities and also facilitate for the entire placement, learning, migration, training and so on.”

He further affirmed that the quality of nurses from Karnataka is excellent and that they can look forward for their services in their countries. The minister later launched the website by V-Empire Consultancy.

Guest of honour Dr. Y. S. R. Murthy appreciated the efforts put forward by V-Empire Overseas and RV College of Nursing for organising the event. In his speech he gave his observations from a legal and Human Rights perspective. “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights asserts the right to health of every person. The International Covenant on Economic, Social and cultural Rights, which India has signed asserts the right of every person to highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. If you look at the Indian Constitution, it provides Right to life and Personal Liberty under Article 21. Nurses and nursing profession have a critical role in the realisation of this cherished human right to health. They provide need-based compassion and care to every patient. They have a noble profession.”

Dr. Roy. K. George in his video message stated that, “We are an association for nurses who are working or practicing in India. RV College of Nursing along with the V-Empire Overseas Consultancy has taken up the task of helping nurses who are planning to go outside.”

Dr. Ramu K., Dean, Faculty of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru mentioned during the event that abroad they need nurses who are skilled and qualified for the service. “To get best medical experience, to earn high salary, opportunity for travelling and exploring the world and above all the manageable working hours are some of the reasons why Indian nurses choose to go abroad.” He appreciated the efforts put forward by Hemegowda in organising the webinar, he added.

Dr. Beloor Raghavendra Shetty congratulate the consultancy for doing this selfless service of training the nurses with language required by them overseas apart from placing and thus opening them to high quality healthcare services and infrastructure abroad. “This is a service because such nurses who work abroad come back to India with the know-how and only help increase the quality of healthcare services and infrastructure in India. We all have understood the need for good healthcare service and infrastructure in India in the backdrop of Covid,” he added.

Dr. ATS Giri appreciated the efforts by Dr. Hemegowda and stated that through this, the nurses in Karnataka can give their services to the people of Italy.

S.R. Ganjendra, Principal, RV College of Nursing said that the demand for nurses is increasing significantly across the globe since the outbreak of pandemic.

“Today various organisations have joined together for this initiative and I appreciate the efforts. This opportunity will prepare the nurses who wish to go abroad,” he said.

Paola, Commercial Manager, Gabbiano 2.0 company, Milan , Italy and Attilino of Job spa, Milan, Italy spoke during the event.

Hemegowda thanked the gathering who participated in the webinar and Sheela Jain, RV College of Nursing proposed the vote of thanks.
