Acton, Massachusetts: A 17-year-old Indian-origin teenager has been charged with the killings of his mother and younger brother at their family home in Acton, Massachusetts, US, authorities said. The teenager, identified as Arjun Aravind, was taken into custody after an overnight manhunt, following the discovery of the two bodies inside the house on Tuesday evening.
Arjun faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his mother, Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and his younger brother, Siddharth Aravind, 14. He is also facing several additional charges, including assault and battery involving household or family members and offences related to the alleged use and theft of a motor vehicle.

Police discover two bodies inside Massachusetts home
The incident came to light on Tuesday, August 11, after Arjun’s father contacted police shortly after 6.30 pm. He reportedly told authorities that he had been unable to contact his wife and children.
A tutor who was expected to arrive at the family home had also been unable to reach them, prompting further concern.
According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and local police, officers subsequently went to the family’s residence in Acton. They found Siddharth dead on the first floor of the house and Sudha in the finished basement. Both victims had suffered what officials described as obvious trauma.
Arjun’s father had last spoken to his wife that morning before leaving for work. Siddharth was reportedly last seen at around noon on Tuesday.

Teen allegedly fled in his mother’s car
