Odin, a much-loved influencer bulldog known to thousands of followers online, has died after sustaining severe injuries while trying to protect his canine companion Raffie during a dog attack. The tragic news was confirmed by his owner, Maren Peeters, who runs the popular social media account bundleofbullies.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, with users hailing Odin’s loyalty and bravery while reflecting on the fragile bonds between pets and their humans.
What happened at the daycare
Peeters revealed that the incident occurred while she was in Austria for the Christmas holidays. Raffie, Odin and their canine siblings were staying at a dog daycare facility when one of her other dogs allegedly attempted to attack Raffie.
According to Peeters, Raffie collapsed suddenly during the incident and died of a heart attack despite staff performing CPR. As the situation escalated, Odin stepped in to shield Raffie and was badly injured in the process.
Raffie died on Christmas Eve. Odin, though wounded, was rushed for medical treatment and later transferred to an animal hospital.
Owner shares heartbreaking final moments
Sharing the devastating update on social media, Peeters posted a photo of herself beside Odin, describing his final moments in emotional detail. She wrote that his face was badly swollen and that he was visibly exhausted when she reached him.
“When he heard me, he stood up and laid his head in my hands,” she wrote, adding that Odin could no longer fight and that his body eventually gave up.
In another post, she wrote, “Odin, Raffie has been waiting for you at the gates of heaven. Go wild up there together.”
Online community mourns ‘besties forever’
Images of Raffie and Odin together, often described by Peeters as inseparable, have since gone viral again, with followers calling their bond “pure” and “heartbreaking.” Many praised Odin for risking his life to protect his companion, calling him a symbol of loyalty and unconditional love.
A GoFundMe page had earlier been launched to support Odin’s medical care, describing how he “risked his life to protect Raffie.”
