Isla Dawn, the Glasgow-based WWE wrestler, has won accolades in sold-out arenas worldwide, but she still faces a challenge: her nephews won’t watch her matches. Known to them as Auntie Coco, they’ll skip past her bouts in favor of other segments. Despite this, Isla’s connection with fans globally is strong, especially following her victorious tag team title win in 2024 at WWE’s Clash at the Castle event in Glasgow.

For Isla, the victory was deeply emotional. “To win a title in WWE is every wrestler’s dream, but doing it in Glasgow was extra special,” she shared. With her family cheering from the stands, including her mum, who hadn’t seen her wrestle since 2019, the moment felt surreal. “The whole of the Hydro was behind us,” she recalls, with her sister’s tears and a memorable photo of the moment now a cherished family keepsake.

Starting her wrestling career in 2013, Isla’s early exposure to the sport came through acting, thanks to her uncle’s connections in Scottish wrestling. After years of training and wrestling across Scotland, she landed a contract with WWE in 2018. Initially working in NXT UK, she later moved to the U.S., joining Raw and SmackDown. Isla’s rise reflects her passion for performance, blending her love for acting, dance, and wrestling.

Despite being a “villain” in the ring, Isla’s character is a heightened version of her true self. As she prepares to return to Glasgow for a Raw episode in March, she hopes to inspire young girls to chase their dreams, no matter how far away they may seem.
