Hezollah, a group based in Lebanon, threatened Israel with an impending Iranian attack by firing dozens of rockets into the country on Friday night.
The Israeli military claimed that about 40 rockets were fired into the nation from neighboring Lebanon in a post on X (formerly Twitter). It claimed that Israeli air defense systems had intercepted a number of these rockets.
The IDF further said, “The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted two Hezbollah explosive UAVs that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory earlier this evening.”
Approx. 40 launches were identified crossing from Lebanese territory, some of which were intercepted.

Following the killing of a top Iranian general in an airstrike on April 1, Iran has repeatedly vowed to take revenge. The US and Israeli intelligence assessment says that an Iranian attack on Israel is likely on the weekend or early next week.
Visuals shared on the social media showed the rockets being intercepted by Israeli air defence systems.

The largest armed group in the region that supports Iran’s opposition to Israel is Hezbollah, which is sponsored by Iran. Since the start of the Israel-Hamas War, it has fought Israel almost every day. Hezbollah has connected Israel to the country’s northern border while Hamas has been engaged in combat with Israel in the Gaza Strip, but neither group has gone so far as to declare open warfare.
According to an AFP-translated statement, Hezbollah confirmed the attack and claimed that in retaliation for Israeli strikes in the south, it fired “dozens of Katyusha rockets” at Israeli artillery positions on Friday.
A combined attack from Iranian proxies in the region, including the likes of Hezbollah, Yemen-based Houthis, and terrorist organisations like Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), is considered to be among the various options that Iran may exercise to attack Israel.
