Although there was a brief period of darkness in North America and Mexico on Monday due to a total solar eclipse, the coverage of the event has negatively impacted a Mexican news outlet that unintentionally broadcast a man’s testicle. Online backlash against the news organization has been mounting since a video of the coverage went viral.

The footage of the total solar eclipse that viewers had submitted was being shown by three anchors on RCG Media’s 24/7 news program when the screen cut to a man using his testicles to block out a light source.

The local newspaper, La Vanguardia, claims that it is a well-known practical joke in Latin America.

According to the New York Post, the male anchor clarified that the clips were submitted by viewers and acknowledged that the desire to feature people’s experiences can put broadcasters in awkward situations.

Meanwhile, an X user who goes by the username ‘Rhevolver’ claimed responsibility for the incident. “Greetings to all my people from Saltillo who had to watch my eggs on television because those from @rcg_media neglected to review the video of the eclipse carefully,” Rhevolver wrote, adding, “I love them.”
