Shimoga: The members of State Lorry, Trucks and Private Transport Bus Owners’ Association have urged the Central Government to amend the Road Safety Act (2014) immediately as it is more problematic.
Association State President G.R. Shanmukhappa, welcoming the Act recently said that several provisions made in the Act were of serious concern and added that levying exorbitant penalties, improper safety provisions for drivers were not in the interest of transport operators.
He further said that the owners of all private vehicles would meet Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and explain him about the problems and added that they would urge Gadkari to amend the Act suitably at the earliest.
He further said that the State and national units of the association would launch a nationwide stir if the Union Government fails to amend the Act.
