Abu Dhabi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a massive cultural event in Abu Dhabi this evening, lauded the increasing collaboration between India and the United Arab Emirates, emphasizing the trajectory it would follow in his “third term.” Expressing gratitude to the Indian expatriates in the UAE, he attributed their efforts to the flourishing partnership between the two nations, marking his seventh visit to the Gulf nation. Promising that “Modi’s guarantee” would be steadfast, he asserted, “Modi’s guarantee means that every commitment will be fulfilled,” at the “Ahlan Modi” program in the Zayed Sports City Stadium, attended by a multitude of Indian expats.

PM Modi hailed the friendship between India and the UAE as he addressed the crowd in the historic stadium, stating, “This is the moment to celebrate the camaraderie between India and the UAE. In this iconic venue, every heartbeat resonates with the same sentiment. Long live the friendship between Bharat and the UAE.” The event commenced with the national anthems of both countries.

Hinting at further collaboration, PM Modi suggested the introduction of India’s UPI (Unified Payments Interface) in the UAE, creating a system for direct money transfers. He highlighted the role of India’s Rupay in aiding the UAE in developing their domestic payment card, named Jeevan. Anticipating the initiation of UPI services, he stated, “This will facilitate seamless payment transactions, allowing you to send money to your family without any hassle.”

Over the past nine years, bilateral cooperation between India and the UAE has surged in trade, defense, food and energy security, and education, with a bilateral trade of approximately $85 billion in 2022-23, according to official data. PM Modi underscored that the bond between the two nations goes beyond economic ties, emphasizing “talent, innovation, and culture.”

Expressing admiration for President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whom he considers a “brother,” PM Modi commended his significant contribution to the growing partnership.
