Princess of Wales hosts ‘Together At Christmas’ service, reflecting on love
Catherine, Princess of Wales, led a heartfelt Christmas service at Westminster Abbey on December 6, 2024, focused on love, empathy, and the support we offer each other during life’s hardest moments. This service marked her return to public engagements after completing chemotherapy treatment for an undisclosed cancer.
Accompanied by her husband, Prince William, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Catherine participated in the “Together at Christmas” carol service, which featured a “kindness tree” where messages of gratitude were placed in honor of those who have offered support during tough times.
The royal family reflected on the theme of community and kindness as they explored the tree, which was filled with notes dedicated to loved ones who had provided strength. In her letter of thanks to guests, Catherine emphasized the importance of shining for one another, especially in both joyful and sorrowful times.
Among those attending were families impacted by the tragic knife attack in Southport, which claimed the lives of three young girls, as well as other community members who contribute selflessly through volunteering or personal support. The service featured performances by UK singer Paloma Faith and jazz musician Gregory Porter.
Catherine, dressed in a festive red coat with a large black bow, also mingled with guests, including six-time Olympic champion Chris Hoy, who is battling terminal cancer. His participation in lighting a candle added a deeply personal touch to the evening, reinforcing the service’s message of mutual support and resilience.
