A Russian SU-34 bomber met with tragedy as it crashed in the Caucasus mountains during a routine training flight, likely due to a technical malfunction. The incident claimed the lives of the crew on board, as reported by Russian news agencies on Tuesday, citing the defense ministry.
According to Russia’s RIA state news agency, the crash occurred in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, in a remote mountainous area, during a scheduled training flight.
“The plane crashed in a deserted area, causing no destruction on the ground. Regrettably, the crew was fatally injured,” stated the defense ministry.
Details regarding the number of individuals on board were not immediately available.
The Sukhoi Su-34, a Soviet-origin Russian all-weather supersonic medium-range fighter-bomber aircraft, was involved in the tragic incident.
