Mohammad Ali Arafat, the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, reiterated today (6 April) that no one will be evicted without proper rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
Arafat made this statement while inaugurating a water pump near Bhashantek Jamia Islamia Arabia Madrasah Masjid, following his visit to the Bhashantek BRP Project.
During the event, the state minister also distributed Eid gifts among slum dwellers, as per a press release.
Arafat reaffirmed his commitment made before the national elections regarding the BRP Project, ensuring the inclusion of all slum dwellers in the rehabilitation program.
He further mentioned his discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding the rehabilitation of Bhashantek slum dwellers, receiving directives from the premier to expedite the implementation of the BRP Project.
Highlighting the government’s stance, Arafat emphasized that no evictions will occur before proper rehabilitation arrangements are made for Bhashantek slum residents.
Moreover, Arafat shared plans for resolving the water crisis in Dhaka city within the next two and a half years by utilizing water from the Meghna River, eliminating the need for additional water pumps in the city.
Expressing optimism about Bangladesh’s future, Arafat outlined the government’s vision of transforming the nation into an advanced and modern Smart Bangladesh by 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He also extended condolences to the family members of the late Bhashantek Thana unit of AL’s former president, Engineer Gias Uddin, during his visit.
Additionally, Arafat inaugurated various development projects and distributed iftar items on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, demonstrating the government’s commitment to community welfare and progress.
