Rep. Eric Swalwell strongly criticized President Donald Trump after several fatal plane crashes occurred in the early days of his second term. The California Democrat voiced his concerns following a deadly small plane crash in Covington, Georgia, which claimed the lives of two individuals, marking the fifth aviation tragedy since Trump assumed office on January 20.

Swalwell pointed the finger at the President for the rising number of aviation accidents, stating on X, “No president has had more planes crash in their first month in office than Donald Trump.” He went further in his remarks, telling Fox News Digital, “Trump is President. President Trump is in charge of air safety. All crashes are Trump’s fault.”

In response, White House communications director Steven Cheung fired back at Swalwell, accusing him of making baseless claims and displaying what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Cheung dismissed Swalwell’s remarks as false and harmful, labeling him a “disgrace” both as an elected official and as a person.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board’s CAROL database, Trump’s second term has seen five fatal crashes so far, in comparison to 10 incidents during President Biden’s same time frame.
