A woman hailing from Washington DC has found herself in distress after inadvertently leaving behind a bag containing her late husband’s ashes on a streetcar this Wednesday. Now, she’s reaching out for assistance in locating the bag. Cherise Wells reached out to a television station in hopes of spreading awareness about the missing bag, which holds not only sentimental but also crucial documents, as reported by the New York Post.

“In the bag is my deceased husband’s veteran’s paperwork, death certificate, our marriage license and other important documents. Also in the bag was an urn containing my husband’s ashes.”

She earnestly implores anyone who may have come across the bag to return it to her securely. Describing the bag as medium-sized with a camouflage design, rectangular shape, black trim, and a shoulder strap, Ms. Wells expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “I feel real sad, definitely,” she said. “I feel like an idiot. I thought it was on my shoulder and it wasn’t, and I feel like a piece of me is missing. I just want whoever finds it to please, please return it.”

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the District Department of Transportation issued a plea, stating, “Attention riders! A neighbor needs your help. A medium-sized, camouflage-print drawstring bag with deep sentimental importance was left on the @DCStreetcar. If you have seen/picked up this bag, please call (202) 809-5618 immediately.”

DC Streetcars are passenger vehicles operating on fixed rails along public streets. Offering a blend of separate right of way or mixed traffic, they represent modern transportation. The DC Streetcar, characterized by its low-floor design and air-conditioned interiors, facilitates swift and convenient boarding. Notably, it’s a complimentary service operating daily for the convenience of commuters.
