Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday morning, according to TMZ Sports. Emergency responders were dispatched to his Clearwater, Florida residence following a report of cardiac arrest.

Paramedics and police arrived at the scene early in the morning, where Hogan was reportedly stretchered out and transported by ambulance.

The news of his passing comes just weeks after his wife, Sky, had dismissed rumors that Hogan was in a coma, stating at the time that his heart was “strong” and he was recovering well from recent surgeries.

Earlier this year, concerns about Hogan’s health had circulated widely, with claims that he was critically ill. However, his representatives had refuted the rumors, saying he was stable despite dealing with long-standing neck and back issues.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, was one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling history, rising to fame in the 1980s and 1990s as the face of WWE (then WWF). His influence on sports entertainment is legendary, with a career that spanned decades.

More details are awaited from his family and WWE.
