In a heartbreaking incident, a 13-year-old boy, G Gaandhar, died by suicide at his home in Banagirinagar, CK Achhukattu, south Bengaluru, on Monday. Gaandhar, a Class 7 student at a private school in Padmanabhanagar, was the younger son of Ganesh Prasad, a musician, and Savita, a noted folk singer currently in Australia for a cultural program.
The tragedy came to light around 6 AM when Ganesh entered his son’s room and found him unresponsive. The boy had reportedly left a note expressing love for his school friends and bidding farewell to his mother, according to police.
Investigating officers said Gaandhar had seemed normal the previous night. He had dinner with his father and elder brother—a college student—without showing any signs of distress. “Ganesh told us he has no idea what may have triggered his son. Even the elder brother is unable to provide any clues,” an officer said.
Authorities informed Savita, who is expected to return to Bengaluru by early Tuesday. Gaandhar’s body has been moved to KIMS Hospital, where a postmortem will be conducted after the mother’s arrival.
Police are continuing their inquiry and will speak with the school and close family to understand possible factors behind the boy’s tragic decision.
The incident has left the local community and school fraternity in deep shock, highlighting the growing concern around mental health and emotional well-being among adolescents.
