In a significant development in the case of 34-year-old Atul Subhash’s suicide, Bengaluru police have arrested his estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, along with her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania. Nikita was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while Nisha and Anurag were arrested in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The arrests were made on December 14, following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Atul’s tragic death on December 9.
Atul, a deputy general manager at a private firm, died by suicide in his Bengaluru apartment, leaving behind an 80-minute-long video and a 24-page letter. In the letter and video, he accused his wife and her family of persistent harassment and falsely accusing him in various legal cases, which he claimed led to his emotional distress.
Unsettling Discovery: Nikita’s Actions Before the Suicide
Further details have emerged about Nikita’s actions leading up to her husband’s death. Sources revealed that on December 8, a day before Atul’s suicide, Nikita checked into a shared room at a paying guest accommodation in Gurugram. She left the room the same evening after paying for a month’s rent starting December 9, which was the day of Atul’s death. Although she completed some KYC formalities, she did not stay at the PG from December 8 until her arrest. Despite attempts by the PG management to contact her, Nikita remained unreachable.
Legal Proceedings and Custody Appeal
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Whitefield, Shiv Kumar, confirmed that all three accused have been remanded to judicial custody. Nikita was arrested in Gurugram, while her mother and brother were detained in Prayagraj. The trio was subsequently brought to Bengaluru and presented before a judge.
Atul’s father, Pawan Kumar Modi, has appealed for the custody of his 4-year-old grandson, expressing his distress over the ongoing legal battles, including a maintenance case filed in his name. Modi has called on high-profile leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, to intervene in the matter.
This case has drawn significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the allegations and the emotional toll it has taken on Atul’s family. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek justice for Atul Subhash.
