Bengaluru – Frustrated by the prolonged delay in launching Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line, South Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya has urged citizens to join a public march on Saturday, July 5, demanding clear answers from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The 19.15-km Yellow Line, which is supposed to link RV Road to Bommasandra, passing vital points like Jayadeva Junction, Silk Board, and Electronics City, remains non-operational. Surya criticized BMRCL’s inaction, stating, “The people’s patience is exhausted. We cannot be taken for granted anymore.”

He invited residents to assemble at Lalbagh Main Gate at 9:30 AM and walk to the BMRCL headquarters in Shantinagar to press for accountability.

Surya also submitted a formal request to BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao for a meeting to highlight public grievances. The meeting delegation is expected to include Opposition Leader R Ashoka and several local MLAs such as M Satish Reddy, M Krishnappa, Ravi Subramanya, Uday Garudachar, and CK Ramamurthy.

Key Demands:

  • A confirmed timeline for Yellow Line inauguration

  • Publication of the Fare Fixation Committee report

  • Progress on the double-decker flyover and HSR to Ragigudda segment

  • Clarity on other metro extensions and efforts to improve passenger services

  • Though trial runs are complete, operations are delayed due to lack of trains and pending Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) approval. Only three trains are currently available, allowing limited frequency. ISA clearance is expected by July 7–8, with a tentative launch set for early August, pending CMRS inspection.
