Madikeri Craft coffee brings the essence of Coorg to the City
Known as the “Scotland of India,” Coorg is famed for its misty hills, lush coffee plantations, and timeless beauty. At its heart lies Madikeri, a land where the aroma of coffee fills the air, creating a magical atmosphere. Now, that essence has been brought to life in the city through Madikeri Craft Coffee, a café that blends authentic flavours with a cozy experience. Recently, we indulged in their offerings and were transported to the coffee plantations of Madikeri.
The café is a harmonious blend of comfort and nature. The outdoor seating, shaded by a grand tree, offers a serene setting to enjoy handcrafted brews. Inside, the space captures the charm of Madikeri with antique pieces, elephant-inspired décor, vibrant paintings, and quirky mugs. Whether you’re working, enjoying a conversation, or spending some quiet time, the ambiance is perfect. The menu boasts a variety of hot and cold beverages, each crafted to delight.
We started with the Hazelnut Latte, a comforting drink perfect for a chilly winter afternoon. To complement the warm brew, we had the Avocado Toast — a healthy and flavorful treat with creamy avocado spread, fresh avocado slices, and tomatoes dusted in black pepper. Next came the Sunrise Fusion, a signature cold brew with a citrusy twist of orange zest and a slice of orange on top, visually stunning and delicious. We then tried the Bhurji Pav, a comforting dish of spiced egg bhurji nestled between soft pavs. Finally, the GinEx cold brew stole the show — a refreshing combination of ginger ale and espresso that offered a unique, energizing taste.
Sarita Sarkar, the café owner, shares that her family owns a coffee estate in Madikeri, and her passion for showcasing the region’s coffee inspired this venture. With a successful start, she envisions expanding the café, spreading the love for authentic coffee far and wide.
