Kannada Actor Thandaveshwar Arrested Over Gunfire During Film Dispute
Kannada television actor Thandaveshwar was arrested by Bengaluru Police on Tuesday after allegedly firing his licensed firearm during a heated argument with film director Bharat Navunda. The incident occurred on Monday evening at a film producer’s office in Bengaluru’s Chandra Layout, police confirmed.
Dispute Over Stalled Film Project
The altercation reportedly stemmed from financial disagreements related to delays in the film project Devanampriya. Thandaveshwar had invested ₹6 lakh of his own money to sustain the production during its two-year stagnation due to the lack of a producer. Though filming recently resumed after securing a producer, slow progress reignited tensions, culminating in a demand for repayment by Thandaveshwar.
Gunfire Incident
During the argument, Thandaveshwar allegedly fired his gun, with the bullet piercing the office roof. No injuries were reported, but the gunfire startled those present. Police registered an FIR under IPC Section 109 (Abetment of a crime) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act based on Navunda’s complaint.
Ongoing Investigation
The police are probing the circumstances leading to the altercation, with further details awaited. The incident underscores the challenges and disputes often accompanying creative collaborations in the film industry.
