Mangaluru: St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, brought down the curtains on its much-awaited cultural extravaganza, Milan 2026, with a spectacular evening programme on April 10, 2026. The grand finale marked the culmination of a day filled with creativity, diversity, and enthusiastic student participation, reflecting the institution’s commitment to nurturing holistic development.

The event witnessed an impressive gathering of students, faculty members, and dignitaries, all coming together to celebrate talent, culture, and artistic expression. The vibrant atmosphere and meticulously organised programme made the evening a memorable experience for everyone present.

Grand procession sets the tone

The evening festivities commenced with a grand procession that set a festive and energetic tone for the celebrations ahead. The colourful parade symbolised unity and cultural diversity, drawing applause from the audience and creating excitement for the performances that followed.

The stage soon came alive with a wide range of performances showcasing the artistic excellence of students. The audience was captivated by a graceful solo classical dance performance by Namratha Jain, followed by a thematic dance by Ashton D’Mello and team that conveyed a powerful narrative through choreography.

An elegant Mohiniattam performance by Greeshma and team added a touch of classical finesse to the evening. Musical talent was equally on display, with a melodious group singing performance by Team Euphonia and a soulful duet by Ananya and team, which received warm appreciation from the crowd.

Inspiring words from dignitaries

During the formal stage programme, Principal Dr. Rio D’Souza reflected on the institution’s remarkable 25-year journey. He highlighted how cultural activities such as Milan inspire creativity, foster energy, and instil strong human values among students, playing a crucial role in their overall development.

Chief guest Mr. Walter Nandalike, Founding and Managing Director of Daijiworld Media, delivered an inspiring and motivational address. Encouraging students to remain focused on their individual goals, he advised them against unnecessary comparisons with others. Quoting entrepreneur Jack Ma, he remarked, “Today is difficult, tomorrow is more difficult, but the day after tomorrow is beautiful,” urging students to persevere through challenges with determination.

Another chief guest, Ln. Kishore D. Shetty, Producer at Lakumi Cine Creations, praised the institution for providing a vibrant platform that helps students build confidence and develop their talents beyond academics. He emphasised the importance of such cultural events in shaping well-rounded individuals.

High-energy performances enthral audience

As the evening progressed, the energy levels soared with a series of electrifying performances. A lively Kashmiri dance by Toxic Beats brought cultural diversity to the forefront, while a dynamic fusion dance by the college dance team left the audience cheering.

The grand finale reached its peak with a powerful Chende fusion performance that resonated with rhythm and tradition. The celebrations concluded with an electrifying DJ session by Team Bassphase, where students enthusiastically participated, dancing and celebrating the spirit of Milan 2026.

Recognition of talent and participation

The event also featured a prize distribution ceremony recognising the winners of various competitions held on April 9 and 10, 2026, on the campus. Students who excelled in different categories were honoured for their achievements, adding to the celebratory spirit of the evening.

The programme was graced by Director Rev. Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza and Assistant Director Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ryner Crasta, along with faculty convenors Dr. Prathima S and Mr. Chitharanjan M. Student convenors Mr. Pratheek Moras and Ms. Renika Yathish were also present, along with deans, heads of departments, and staff members of the institution.
