Mahesh Mahadev, a music composer, and Priyadarshini, a playback singer, have been nominated for the International Singer-Songwriters Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to independent music.
This awards ceremony will be hosted by the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) bringing together some of the biggest names in music in August in Atlanta, USA.
ISSA is committed to globally promoting musicians in a range of musical genres. Among its most esteemed occasions is the awards ceremony where the winners will be selected by a panel of renowned music industry professionals and public votes, which honors exceptional accomplishments in music.
Mahesh Mahadev is an Indian film score composer, songwriter, singer, and multi-talented artist. He has written original music in over 12 languages for several films and independent music albums. With the development of more than fifty new Indian Classical Ragas, he has contributed new, melodic compositions to the field of Indian classical music. He expressed his happiness at being nominated in multiple categories, including International Male Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Vocal Duo of the Year.
Priyadarshini, PhD, is a playback singer who has sung in more than 180 movies and several independent albums in various languages.
She is thrilled to see her name in five international categories: Female Vocalist of the Year, Female Album of the Year, Female Single of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
A duet song with Late Singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam has been nominated for the Vocal Duo Category.
Priyadarshini being the first playback singer in India to receive a doctorate for her PhD research in 100 years of film music recently was awarded the Puneeth Rajkumar Rajaratna Award for her music contributions and the Karnataka Film Producer Council’s Silver Screen Women Achiever Award.
Both Mahesh Mahadev and Priyadarshini have been nominated for their recent International musical album “Meera:The Way of the Storm,” which was the original theatre play performance by Vinitha Subramanian from Austin, Texas which showcases songs of the 16th-century poet and mystic Meera Bai.
The album has been widely acclaimed for its authenticity, portraying Indian culture, spiritual impact and emotional depth, earning it the prestigious nomination. “We are thrilled and humbled by this recognition,” said Priyadarshini.
