Penumetcha and Penmatsa lived in the home from where the student was rescued.
According to a report with the River Front Times, the Indian student thought the three would sponsor him for his student visa. However, they destroyed his passport, he alleged. Further, the student told police he was always under surveillance and was fed very little. He slept for as little as three hours, the report stated.
The police said the accused allowed the student to call his mother back home, only in their presence. They also never allowed him to make any video calls.
Briefing a conference, the police said they were initially not allowed to enter the home. However, the student eventually came running from the basement.
He was trembling uncontrollably, heavily scarred and suffering from bruising and swelling all over his body, charges stated.
