New Delhi: Actor Siddhant Issar, taking on the role of ‘Tarkasur’ in the series ‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav’, expressed that his father Puneet Issar serves as his primary inspiration. He takes pride in carrying forward his father’s legacy in the realm of mythological storytelling.
The grand production ‘Shiv Shakti-Tap Tyag Tandav’ narrates the saga of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati, exploring their journey of duty, sacrifice, and separation. Siddhant portrays ‘Tarkasur’, characterized by an enigmatic and malevolent aura. The story follows Tarkasur’s intense penance to acquire the power to conquer Swarg Lok and triumph over Indra and the Devas, marking a legendary chapter among the Asurs.
Siddhant shared how he engaged with his father’s insights about the role: “My father is my ultimate inspiration. I’m proud to carry his legacy forward in the mythological genre. He was delighted when he heard I’d be playing Tarkasur. Rather than imposing his viewpoint, he first asked for my interpretation. This open-minded approach is something I value. Despite his experience, he’s eager to understand my perspective.”
Puneet Issar is renowned for his portrayal of Duryodhana in ‘Mahabharat’, a television series by B.R. Chopra.
Regarding his preparation for the antagonist role, Siddhant emphasized the importance of avoiding moral judgments during character preparation. He approached playing ‘Tarkasur’ with honor and responsibility due to the show’s focus on revered deities. To authentically embody the demon king, Siddhant underwent intense physical training and extensively researched the character.
He explained, “To portray a character as intricate as ‘Tarkasur’, I needed to delve into his psyche, understand his motivations, fears, and desires, and unveil the human side behind the menacing exterior.”
Siddhant, drawing from his theatre experience of enacting mythological roles, expressed that the genre is ingrained in him. He believes his theatrical background will contribute to his performance.
