In a shocking turn of events, veteran actress Kasammal passed away after her son P Namakodi (52) beat her to death in Tamil Nadu. The incident took place in Anaiyur, near Usilampatti, Madurai city
According to reports, the confrontation between Kasammal and her son erupted over a dispute regarding funds for purchasing alcohol. Regrettably, she lost her life immediately after being struck during the altercation on February 4 at 3:00 am.
Namakodi, who had been separated from his wife for the past 15 years, had been residing with his mother. However, his battle with alcohol addiction often resulted in him seeking financial assistance from Kasammal.
On the tragic day, Namakodi allegedly requested money from his mother for alcohol, but she declined. This refusal reportedly led him to fatally assault her, using a wooden log as the weapon.
Following the incident, the Usilampatti Taluk police intervened, leading to Namakodi’s arrest and subsequent remand. The murder weapon was seized by the authorities for further investigation.
Kasammal and her husband, Balasami, shared four children together.
In terms of her professional life, Kasammal was recognized for her role in the Tamil film “Kadaisi Vivasayi,” released in 2022. In the movie, directed by M. Manikandani and starring Nallandi, Vijay Sethupathi, and Yogi Babu, she portrayed the character of Sethupathi’s mother
