Comedian says he has been unwell for a year, to complete limited “Papa Yaar” India tour before long pause
Mumbai: Popular stand-up comedian Zakir Khan has announced that he will be taking a break from live performances, citing prolonged health issues caused by his extensive touring schedule.
The 38-year-old comedian shared the update through an Instagram story titled “The Health Update”, where he revealed that he has been unwell for nearly a year but continued to perform due to professional commitments.
‘Touring this extensively is not healthy’
“I’ve been touring for the last ten years. Though I’m extremely blessed to receive your love and affection, touring this extensively is not good and very healthy. Trying to satisfy everyone you meet, 2-3 shows in a day, sleepless nights, early morning flight, and of course, no timetable for meals,” Khan wrote.
“I absolutely love being on stage, but I’ll have to take a break now. I don’t wish to do so but I was ignoring this for a year now. Before it’s too late, I better take it now,” he added.
Limited India tour before break
Khan confirmed that he will go ahead with a limited India tour titled “Papa Yaar”, which will run from October 24 to January 11, 2025. The tour will cover multiple cities including Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Bhopal, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Mangalore.
However, he clarified that there will be no shows in his hometown Indore, urging fans to attend the Bhopal show instead.
After completing this tour, Khan said he has been advised to take a long break to focus on his health.
Fans react with support
Soon after his announcement, fans and followers expressed concern but also lauded his decision to prioritise health. Many left messages of encouragement, calling him an “inspiration” not just on stage but also in making responsible choices
