Mangaluru: A group of 65 electronics engineering students and five faculty members from Canara College of Engineering, Mangalore, visited NITK Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) (an incubation centre in the city) on 25 April as part of their curriculum.
The main purpose of the tour was to provide students with a chance to learn about the processes of innovation and entrepreneurship. The centre is primarily focused on supporting startups in the technology sector, by offering them mentoring, resources, and networking opportunities.
The students were then taken on a tour to see the facilities available at NITK STEP, which featured co-working areas, private offices, conference rooms, and prototype laboratories. The centre crew highlighted how entrepreneurs could utilise the amenities to develop their products and services, test them, and obtain feedback from potential consumers and investors.
The startups based at NITK STEP shared their ideas, journey, experiences they gained at the centre and their views about how NITK helped them expand their businesses.
During the interactive discussion, Prof. Arun Isloor, Professor In-charge, of NITK STEP, covered topics such as how to register for a company, about the Indian startup ecosystem, fundraising, intellectual property, market research, and team formation.
